The situation
This Chinese-Indonesian specialty restaurant knows how to keep its guests satisfied. What is unique about this restaurant is that the menu has remained virtually unchanged for almost thirty years. However, they certainly keep up with the times, and you can now also place an order on their website. With their own delivery drivers, they bring Chinese specialties to their customers’ homes.
The challenge: order processing takes too long
In recent years, there has been a shift in the number of visitors to Chinese restaurants. Instead of restaurant visits, delivery orders are starting to take the lead. Due to developments in the delivery service market, online orders are growing enormously.
Six months ago, De Chinese Muur still received orders via fax machine. They transcribed the receipts into both Dutch and Chinese, spending more than five minutes per receipt. CashDesk was brought in to drastically reduce the time per order.
The solution: automation of order processing
De Chinese Muur utilizes both the delivery software and the restaurant POS system from CashDesk. Since the partnership began, the process has become much more efficient. Orders are now automatically forwarded to the system and printed. As a result, orders no longer need to be transcribed, and there is less chance of errors.
Additionally, it is very convenient that the printer can also print Chinese characters. An automatic translation is performed within the system. This is essential, as a large portion of the kitchen staff speaks only Chinese. De Chinese Muur had not been able to find any other system where this was possible.
The results: working more efficiently with fewer staff
Because orders are forwarded automatically, work is carried out more efficiently and fewer staff members are required. For example, previously two staff members worked in the delivery section, and this is now handled by just one employee who can also perform other tasks in the meantime. That represents a productivity increase of more than 100%.
Errors in orders also occur less frequently, and communication with the kitchen is much smoother because orders are printed in both Dutch and Chinese.
